Aaron Fleming's Corporate Blog @ iUpload - There's No Place Like 127.0.0.1

My corporate blog provides everyone a look into the technical bits and bytes of iUpload from the desktop to the datacentre. The title means "There is no place like home". 127.0.0.1 is the loopback address of your computer. So, "there is no place like 127.0.0.1" also means "there is no place like home".

880 Winter Street - our new digs.

waltham-1
View Photo AlbumView Photo Album

Our US office has officially opened this week at 880 Winter Street in Waltham - just a few minutes from Boston. It is a fantastic location with many other high tech companies just down the road. The unit itself has loads of useful space including a handful of offices, a large boardroom, a smaller meeting room, a very functional kitchen and whiteboards on wheels... what could be better?

It looks a little bare now but I am certain it will be filling up shortly.

A Picture Says 1000 Words - Corporate Blogging At Kodak

As the old saying goes, A Picture Says 1000 Words. Well, Kodak recently launched a very popular corporate blog (plugged by BoingBoing) tailored for their employees to share their favorite stories & photos with the world. Now - the site has loads of posts up there already but the shots of the SR-71 by Peter Lautenslager are my favorite.

You can check out 1000 Words here.

Back to the browser @ iUpload

Some time ago I posted about how close I am to completely living in my browser and today I came across a little tool that makes it that much easier.

Even after deploying a new VoIP system throughout iUpload that replaces all of our desktop based telephones I still find myself using Skype from time to time as IM chats quickly become conversations.

While poking around MSFN's RSS feed this morning I noted that there was a preview release for Skype that included browser add-ons for both IE and FF. This slick little tool converts any phone number in a web page to a clickable link that will dial the number in Skype for you.

If you would like to check out this Preview - you can grab it here.
